Friends are More Important Than Silver and Gold

November, 2009

Someone called me this week that I have not seen in almost fifteen years. It may have been a senior moment, but even after he sent a few pictures of himself and talked about where we met and that he had stayed in my house, I had no recall of him. We talked for almost an hour and I was amazed at how much he remembered the things I had said when looking at his astrological birth chart and how kind he said I had been to him. Tom said that he would like to come to Sedona for a visit and wanted to see me. He was 27 when I saw him last and he is now 42.

After I had another meeting with Simon & Schuster about a new book last week, I realized I needed to pump up the number of Friends on FACEBOOK. As I began to look at current friends of mine onsite I knew some of their friends and I began to send Requests to be my friend. The affirmations came pouring in from people I hadn’t seen in more than 50 years. This process compressed the time line like nothing else. It was as if I were reliving people, places and things from eons ago.

Relationships are more important than winning the rat race; the human experience beats amassing a whole lot of money. When Tom called me after umpteen years and I rediscovered friends from the past it reminded me what is of value: people. I am not denigrating the capacity to make a living but I for one am going to keep my eye on the prize: my friends mean more to me than silver and gold.

Take a look at you and see what your motives are for working where you work and being friends with those you call friend. Make sure that you are not trying to get some place you’ll not like when you get there. You never know when someone from the past will call out of the clear blue or how the way you treated someone from the past may be better the second time around.

YOU'RE NOT WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE

"Albert lets us know that we can talk about a new spiritual renaissance to any degree we want, but it cannot happen until enough of us grasp that the spiritual experience has a mental health component. He says that we all have to step back and really look at the parts of our character that hold us back, because only then can we become who we really are--and truly move into a consciousness and mission that changes the world."-- James Redfield, author of The Celestine Prophecy Order your copy today!

The paperback edition of You're Not Who You Think You Are is coming out Dec. 22nd. Order your paperback edition online HERE.

The Book of the Shepherd by Joann Davis

I have known Joann Davis for a number of years, first as the editor of Clearing for the Millennium published by Warner Books in 1997, and then as my agent for Signs and Wonders, which Simon & Schuster published in 2003. Joann is one of the smartest people I have ever known in publishing and her new book, The Book of the Shepherd is one of the most compelling and touching parables I have ever read. I recommend it highly and suggest that that the book would be a very appropriate Christmas gift for everyone on your list this coming Holiday Season.
