note-to-self

You are always reading insights about you as well as what’s up with people and causes that we wholeheartedly support. But time to time people ask about who I am and how I feel about a lot of things that they have to deal with in their own lives. We will make changes to the photos and pictures every few months, so you will have bits and pieces about my take on me and what I value or what I know not to be true for me. I hope you enjoy the open door to me and my character. — Albert Gaulden

“Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and, departing,
leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time.”

The Signs of the Time–In case you haven’t noticed we are now at the half-way point in our calendar year. Hope you’re not still paying off Christmas 2016. I vividly remember Y2K when the doomsayers said it was the end of times. I told my banker brother Hank who was freaked out over computers going haywire that there would be no down time. I was right as rain.

There is a New Moon at 02 degrees of Cancer on June 23. New Moons are about new beginnings and are most beneficial to those whose natal Moon Signs are most compatible with Cancer, which is other Water Signs as well as Earth Signs.

Jupiter went direct on June 9 at 24 degrees of Libra, which means that Venus-ruled Librans can begin to see success and a lot of cosmic help. Retrogrades impede the intent of planets in signs; forward motion enhances the chances for great achievements.

There is a Full Moon at 17 degrees of Capricorn on July 8. Although we write for the individual this lunation is particularly significant since we as a nation are Cancers. There could be some crisis that comes to a head around this time and it won’t be pretty. Batten down the hatches. The Full Moon in Capricorn is also a wake-up call for you Goats about changes and challenges to major projects in which you are involved. Particularly hard hit will be Cancer, Aries and Libra.

Fire Signs

fireARIES (March 20 – April 19)–Just when you thought you had free range to do anything your little old ruling planet, Mars would let you, we give you word that this whole Solar Cycle Mars is in Cancer. Not an open season to see that you’ll get your way with anything you want to do. Actually, you’ve got double trouble for 30 days with Jupiter in Libra opposing you. Lest we forget, the Sun in Cancer is also giving you fits. You still have Uranus in Aries, but to tell the truth such a transit will give you a lot of ideas that will fizzle too quickly. A word to the wise Aries amongst you: stay out of traffic. Don’t make any rash business decisions that you’ll live to regret. So what can you do that will benefit you? May we suggest a quiet and contemplative vacation?

LEO (July 22 – August 21)–The answer to your questions, Lions and Lionesses, can be found in the genius of the Kabbalah, the mysticism of Judaism. The nature of the Sign of Leo is to want to strike out at those who would demean you, shame or accuse you of something hurtful. Leo is known to be the most creative sign of the Zodiac. Vivid imagination is one of your strongest gifts. But there are two kinds of Leos. One is living and becoming part of how creatively the Lion can be; the other is someone who is vain and selfish and self-centered. This Solar Cycle it is important for you to take an inventory of which you are and how you can get ready to be the better of the two types. Next month is going to be a royal payoff for those of you who are involved is receiving to share.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 20)–We’ll go out on a limb with you Archers this month and let you know you’re in the homestretch with Saturn in your sign. Some of us stargazers believe that Sagittarius is the sign and house where the Creator, God lives. With all the turmoil in the world today dealing with the taskmaster Saturn could be just another planet doing what all of them are meant to do: refine and bring change to at the deepest levels. What you can do during this waning period of Saturn is to commit to a life of meditation and reading books and listening to CDs that could be soul openers as you accept, not fight, change.

Earth Signs

earthTAURUS (April 20 – May 20)–Both the New Moon in Cancer and the Full Moon in Capricorn will lift your spirits and fill your coffers if you work diligently for those rewards. Sun/Mercury in Cancer will add to your exhilaration. Venus in Taurus until the 4th of July will complete your astrological Trifecta.  But there’s more. Mars in Cancer through this celestial month will be icing on the cake. We can think of any time in recent memory that any sign had the Zodiac spread stacked in their favor as do you Bulls at this time. Caution: Never take anything for granted. Don’t say “Yes” to all offers. And not least, don’t eat yourself into bigger drawers or a dress size. But the understated outside assistance from Pluto in Capricorn will thrill you beyond words. (Psst: Don’t ignore the words of caution).

VIRGO (August 22 – September 21)–You are about to get notice of something that you were applying for and forgot about. This will happen around the 4th of July. Also you may enroll in college or classes to put you in the running for an opportunity in a few months. Make a notation in your diary that June 20 – July 21 is one of the most compatible Solar Cycle of the year for you. There is a caution for you this month as well. If you have been in a relationship that doesn’t seem to go anywhere, make a choice to let go in love. Around your birthday in late August or September you may meet the man or woman of your dreams. And trust your instincts; this one is a keeper.

CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19)–February 28, 2008 Pluto went back into Capricorn after going back and forth in Sagittarius. The meltdown on Wall Street and banks started when Pluto first went into Capricorn on January 28, 2008. Pluto will enter Aquarius on February 23 2023, which gives Capricorns keeper of the mass reconstruction from ground up if any democracies are to survive. The total time for Pluto in Capricorn will be 15 years that the Goat has had to persevere and be the solid foundation upon we must rebuild. Pluto is the natural ruling planet for Scorpio, which is known to have to contend with a lot of pain and suffering and reconstruction. This month, Goats, stick to your assignment and thank God as much for what you don’t have as for what you are responsible for.

Air Signs

airGEMINI (May 21 – June 21)–This is Gratitude Month for you celestial Twins. All the Cancer planets will make your world warm and fuzzy. And, it is true that so many of your progressed planets are in Cancer. Progressions are more about your inner world and not so much about the world of appearances. Take how far you’ve come this year and luxuriate in your progress. Next month your play-pal Leo will be strutting its stuff and you will certainly not get lost in the shuttle. July would be a great time for a vacation. For all the ups and downs and all arounds that you Geminis have endured to get to this place, enjoy the moment. Someone near you will surprise you with something that only money can buy. You deserve it.

LIBRA (September 22 – October 22)–On June 9th retrograde Pluto in Libra went direct in motion. That’s the long awaited good news because now you fair and balanced types can take a deep breath and go about your business. The fly in the ointment is that the Sun and Mercury in Cancer will be squaring you for a few weeks. Mars in Cancer will seem like rain keeps dropping on your head throughout the Cancer Solar Cycle. On July 4 Mercury in Leo in favorable aspect to Libra will bolster your resolve to get a lot of work done. On that same day, your ruling planet, Gemini will also make you feel that you are no longer spinning your wheels. Since you are the one sign in the Zodiac that refuses to blame and bellyache, just know that Saturn in Sagittarius is also a boon for you.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 17)–If Aquarians have an itsy bitsy problem it is in wanting instant gratification when they sound the first chord of their symphony. You Water Bearers have a lot of music echoing in the chambers of your mind. Your ruling planet is Uranus. Uranus will leave Aries the first time on May 26, 2018 and move into Taurus. Pluto will go back and forth between Aries and Taurus for a full year. We’re giving you a crash course in astrology by telling you to watch this move into Taurus where it will stay for seven years when it goes into Taurus on March 7 2019. You understand enough about the stars to know that you and Taurus are oil and water.

Water Signs

waterCANCER (June 21 – July 21)–After all the kerfuffle about the harsh transits for you Crabs for many months here comes doors of opportunity wide open and welcoming. Sun/Mercury in Cancer both enter the lotus land on June 20 the day we move into the Cancer Solar Cycle. And Venus will be in the compatible sign of Taurus until the 4th of July. Celebrate on the 4th of July as it truly will be your time of Independence. Bottom line, these 30 days will be the best you have seen in a long time. A real caution for you is not to be too thin-skinned. Try to be less controlling. Enjoy your time because you know how to nurture and comfort those around you who need a helping hand.

SCORPIO (October 22 – November 21)–At the midpoint of the calendar year Scorpio is about to make a complete come-back at this time. Throughout this Solar Cycle all major aspects are colluding to give this magical sign all the help it needs to get to where the Upper World wants Scorpio to go. In these hectic and chaotic times politically it is up to Scorpio to hold the power point for everything to right itself. Rather than being as humanity describes itself, Scorpio knows that we are fluid energy with the capacity to right the wrongs in the world with thought impressions, prayer and right action.. It is later than we suspect and it is up to those with the transcendent power that Scorpio possesses to be an instrument of change.

PISCES (February 18 – March 19)–You will reap a lot of rewards this Solar Cycle because no sign is more compatible with Cancer than are you Fishes. Your intuition will be particularly finely honed around the 4th of July. If someone owes you money they’ll cough it up. Although I am a Pisces I have never bought a lottery ticket, but if you have, you might see some shekels fall into your lap. This is a great time to pay off what you owe. I did that years ago and I always have an inkling that things might get a bit rough and tough pretty soon. My Mama used to quote Ben Franklin and scripture to us kids. My favorite and one I live by still today is “Neither a borrower nor a lender be.”

Couples Who Went to the Extreme to Save Their Marriage
An interview with Carl and Joyce Gioia in RedBook Magazine

When Joyce Gioia couldn’t think of anything else to save her marriage and solve the trust issues that were tearing her and her husband, Carl, apart, she decided to make an investment into what she hoped could be a life-long, loving marriage. They packed their bags and headed to the Sedona Intensive: A $16,000 week-long intensive therapy session that helps people release all self-destructive behaviors.

The purpose of this particular therapy was to help them become stronger individuals, and the counseling was never couple-based. In fact, they only saw each other once per morning at 7 a.m. when they attended a 12-step meeting. The meetings addressed addictions—but it had nothing to do with substance abuse—it was focused on things like work addictions and co-dependence issues.

Between the supervised journaling, visits with renowned mental health professionals, and their genuine will to make things work, Carl and Joyce were able to recover their relationship.

“I believed that the nature and the intensity of this self-learning experience would help us move beyond the impasse that was preventing a resolution in our marriage,” Joyce said. And she was right. By looking at each other as total individuals, they were able to discover what was most important to their spouse and cater to those specific needs. Two years have passed and they’re more in love than ever.

Q & A

RedBook – Explain what the Sedona intensive is.

The Sedona Intensive is a rigorous, weeklong self-exploration. During the week, through concentrated journaling and visits with mental and physical health professionals, we each invested a lot of effort and energy in self-discovery. This self-learning experience is designed and managed by well-respected psychologist Albert Gaulden and includes daily meeting with Albert to monitor progress and ensure results.

RedBook – How did you find out about it?

My brother, who is a nationally acclaimed Emergency Department physician, had gone through this experience with his wife Amber and highly recommended it to us.

RedBook – What did you do at the Sedona intensive?

Every day, we began by attending a 12-Step Meeting with AA. Then, we had a rotating schedule of appointments with a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a yoga instructor, and/or an energy-balancing professional, and of course, Albert. In our “spare” time, we took independent hikes, though the spectacular Sedona canyons.

RedBook – What made you decide to go to this?

We decided to do it, because nothing else seemed to be working to resolve our trust issues. I believed that the nature and intensity of this self-learning experience would help us move beyond the impasse that was preventing resolution of our marriage.

RedBook – How did it change your relationship?

We both worked very hard to discover why we engaged in self-destructive behaviors that stood in the way of our sharing the loving relationship we both thought possible. Two years later, we are more in love than ever before.

RedBook – Would you recommend it to others?

Yes, absolutely, if the two people are prepared to approach the experience with open hearts and minds and they are truly interested in doing the work to strengthen the relationship.

Lindsay, as I said before, “I honestly do not know what else we might have done that would have been so effective in turning the relationship around”.

Joyce Gioia

What Our Clients Are Saying About The Sedona Intensive

“The Sedona Intensive was a life changing experience for me. I had been searching for happiness and serenity for over 20 years and as a result of the Intensive I found that I was looking in all the wrong places. I not only experienced what happiness and serenity truly are but now understand the process needed to maintain and enhance that state of being. It doesn’t mean that I don’t experience the ups and downs of life but what it does mean is that those downs do not even come close to impacting me the way they used to. There is now a presence of mind that provides clarity and purpose that did not exist for me prior to the Intensive.

It is impossible to put a value on such a quality of life enhancing experience that the Sedona Intensive provides the person willing to do the work.It is by far the most significant thing I have done in my 62 years.

I came across a quote last week that summed up what I experienced and learned while attending the Sedona Intensive – ‘Once you stop clinging and let things be, you’ll be free’ -Bodhidharma (440ce – 528 ce), the Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma: A Bilingual Edition.”
