note-to-self

You are always reading insights about you as well as what’s up with people and causes that we wholeheartedly support. But time to time people ask about who I am and how I feel about a lot of things that they have to deal with in their own lives. We will make changes to the photos and pictures every few months, so you will have bits and pieces about my take on me and what I value or what I know not to be true for me. I hope you enjoy the open door to me and my character. — Albert Gaulden

“Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and, departing,
leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time.”

–Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The Signs of the Time–To tell the truth, 2017 is going to be a banner year even if you aren’t waving one. In my mind’s eye, the New Year will challenge us all to do more, be more, spend less and turn everything over to the God above; all of these pointers are great indicators of things to come. Those of us who have been living beyond our means and blaming Uncle Sam had best brush up on what you can do to make life worth living. Stop mindless spending.

The Winter Solstice in the sign of Capricorn actually starts on December 21. How many of you knew that Christmas and Hanukkah always come in the cold and frigid time of the year, unless you are in Florida or Hawaii? It’s not the weather patterns that are important but it is time to start over.

Most of us grew up with New Year’s Resolutions which most of us broke the next day. Hopefully, more of us will resolve to change ourselves in order to have a better world. As Kabbalah warns us, get out of the blame game and life will be rosier.

The highpoint of this Solar Cycle happens on January 8 when Mercury goes direct at 29 degrees of Sagittarius. My head in the clouds and feet planted on firm ground advises that since Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s Eve happen under Mercury retrograde be careful not to overextend yourself financially and watch how much you drink. This is a cautionary period all around the table and throughout the house where you live and the place where you work.

Let me be frank from the get-go. Capricorn is one of the most misunderstood signs in the Zodiac. It is the Goat’s nature to be pragmatic and sure-footed. He or she can appear to be cold and indifferent. No, those born under this magic are on assignment to make sure that all specs are in alignment with what is true. There are no political shenanigans–just the facts, ma’am, as that 50s favorite TV show, Dragnet used to repeat weekly.

There is a New Moon on December 28 at 08 degrees of Capricorn. This new beginning is not just for Capricorns but Taurus and Virgo as well; it also gives a boost to Water Signs, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

On January 12 there is a Full Moon at 22 degrees of Cancer. Moody, but loving, protective but disconcerting, the Moon-ruled Crab will go through some looking back to reorganize a lot of things under this lunation. The good news is that New and Full Moons are demarcations of either progress or back-sliding with goals and ambitions. Other affected signs are Cardinal Fire, Aries; Cardinal Air, Libra and Cardinal Earth and opposing sign to Cancer, Capricorn. All these signs are under a lot of critical reevaluation. What is not working each sign will change as only Cardinal signs can.

By January 8, 2017 there will be no retrograde planets. This means that all systems are go, go, go and expectations are even higher. Get a lot of rest and don’t forget to journal and pray to the God of your own understanding–or misunderstanding.

Fire Signs

fireARIES (March 19 – April 18)–Moses once said to his tribe of followers along the Red Sea, “Keep your nose above water with the faith you brought with you. Crossing will be rough, but consider the consequences of turning back.” And that you battering Rams of the Zodiac, if you have considered the downside of standing still, make sure the Voice of Intuition is in alignment with higher purpose and go for it. Make sure you wait until Mercury is out of retrograde on January 8. All planets are direct in motion. Just make sure you avoid both real highs and desperate lows. Things could be big for you now.

LEO (July 22 – August 21)–There is good reason for this to be a time of the year for you Lions and Lionesses to keep a low profile. You love fun in the sun and perhaps a roll of the dice in Las Vegas. Sailing, swimming, beach ball or a lawn party are some of your favorite things. Instead we all endure gray days and many of us have to dig out from under a pile of snow. You might want to redecorate your life at home, at the office and whatever floats your boat. If you always wanted to write, pick up the pen. If culinary tickles your fantasy, take a cooking class. Smart types may want to play a few rubbers of bridge. If vices have caused a leak in your boat find a good support group to help you fix the problem.

SAGITTARIUS (November 21 – December 20)–You are the most aspiring of all the signs in the Zodiac. Like the song advises, you always reach for the Moon. An Archer is so enthusiastic and enervating he or she could wake the dead. With Saturn in Sagittarius for a couple more years you are back in Earth School to distinguish between God’s will for your life and senseless roaming and exploring. The unsavory qualities you may need to look at are tendency to be tactless and capricious. You are going to get a lot of help in 2017 with your ruling planet Jupiter transiting in Libra.

Earth Signs

earthTAURUS (April 19 – May 19)–Remember cosmic planetary geometry and you should motor through these blockades quite well. After Mercury goes direct on January 6 you will benefit when Mercury goes into Capricorn. Both Taurus and Capricorn like to work hard (and Taurus will eat anything that won’t eat him or her–watch where your fork digs in!). On January 4 Mars goes into Scorpio, opposing you. Definitely sit on your money. Do not let the euphoria of a New Administration trick you into a deal that will not work for you.  Your long and strong suit is that you have the patience of Job–until an aroma tricks your stomach and then your wagon wheel plops off.

VIRGO (August 22 – September 21)–Mercury in Capricorn after it goes direct in motion on January 8 should hold you in good stead. But remember there are two extremes with a Virgo:  a neat-freak or messy. One likes to save and the other type spends beyond his or her means. With Saturn in Sagittarius squaring and Mars and Venus in Pisces opposing you got awhile be measured with all that you do. This is a great time for a year-end review and to set your sights on what is doable and what is a pipedream. Your long and strong quality is to analyze and make good choices. Practice this bright side of your sign now.

CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19)–As you well know from living with both the positive as well as challenges of the Goat, there are a lot of obstacles this Solar Cycle. Mercury is retrograde in Capricorn from December 19 until January 9. You will be aided and abetted by the ally, Mars in Pisces throughout the Capricorn Solar Cycle. Uranus from Aries squaring you, Jupiter from Libra also squaring you and Pluto conjunct Capricorn may seem more than one sign can bear. On January 11 Mercury will be direct in motion in Capricorn. Not all is lost. Pick where you make adjustments in your carefully-laid plans. Never fear, God is watching and sending you support energies.

Air Signs

airGEMINI (May 20 – June 19)–Saturn and Venus are opposing you this Solar Cycle. These transits are cautions to be aware of your own inner feelings and not be burdened with someone else’s. Your ruling planet Mercury will go direct on January 8 in Capricorn. Capricorn requires hard work and rebuilding of a lot of structures in your life. The best news for you Twins is the power flow from Jupiter in Libra. By association your world is expanding, perhaps faster than you would like. This month you are in a new part of the forest. The opportunities are all around.

LIBRA (September 22 – October 21)–You may want to get your bearings better this New Year. Mercury in Capricorn will square Libra and muddy the waters for clear and conscious thinking. Mars and Venus in Pisces are doing you no favors either. With Jupiter going retrograde for several months on February 6 the transits of most planets are trying to blockade your every move. It is a great time to review and make plans down the road. Libra is not known to make knee-jerk decisions anyway. Oftentimes the best action to take is to doing nothing. Sit still and reconsider everything important in your life.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 17)–Not only is this your time of year but Uranus in Aries and Saturn in Sagittarius are forming a protective shield over you right now. You are also in good shape with Jupiter in Libra for many more months. Nobody withstands the outrageous fortunes of greed and self-service quite like a Water Bearer. Everything seems to align for you to stake your claim to landing a new job or buying a brand new house. Always listen to your inner voice and you will never go wrong. May we remind you always to ask someone, “What can I do for you?”

Water Signs

waterCANCER (June 20 – July 21)–The New Moon on December 29 at 8 degrees of Capricorn will oppose you Crabs. There could be repercussions from a family feud or someone dissing the dinner menu under this aspect. Your self-repressive nature might fester without any visible reaction to whatever comes your way. There is that dang Full Moon at 22 degrees of Cancer on January 12. Cancerians can appear hard and insensitive on the outside, yet they are vulnerable and soft on the inside. I have told the readers a zillion times that this is the Lower World of corrections and amends. This month Cancers, take the high road and be direct but loving with your interchanges with people all around you.

SCORPIO (October 22 – November 20)–Monitor your moods and do not sink into the morass that your dark side activates. This is a super month for you because Scorpio and Capricorn are allies in the Zodiac. And Mercury blesses you from the 12 of January when it is back in Capricorn. Mars and Venus in Pisces are trining you, great connection, for the rest of the Solar Cycle. And your buddy Neptune in Pisces is also a boon for you. And to top it off, Pluto is in Capricorn trying to help your best-laid plans. Check in with yourself often to make sure you’re not your own worst enemy.

PISCES (February 18 – March 18)–Venus, Mars and your ruling planet, Neptune, will all be in Pisces throughout this Solar Cycle. You could find yourself in emotional-overload right about now. On the other side of the matter, you may have met the soulmate of your dreams. Realizing that Fishes are known to conjure and fall in love at hello, pace yourself to avoid a season of regret. This is a particularly fertile time creatively for you. Writers, composers, care-givers as well as stock brokers, heads of state and corporate leaders, your dreams can come true if you checked the small print. Nothing unravels brilliance quite like the devil in the details.

What Our Clients Are Saying About The Sedona Intensive

“The Sedona Intensive was a life changing experience for me. I had been searching for happiness and serenity for over 20 years and as a result of the Intensive I found that I was looking in all the wrong places. I not only experienced what happiness and serenity truly are but now understand the process needed to maintain and enhance that state of being. It doesn’t mean that I don’t experience the ups and downs of life but what it does mean is that those downs do not even come close to impacting me the way they used to. There is now a presence of mind that provides clarity and purpose that did not exist for me prior to the Intensive.

It is impossible to put a value on such a quality of life enhancing experience that the Sedona Intensive provides the person willing to do the work.It is by far the most significant thing I have done in my 62 years.

I came across a quote last week that summed up what I experienced and learned while attending the Sedona Intensive – ‘Once you stop clinging and let things be, you’ll be free’ -Bodhidharma (440ce – 528 ce), the Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma: A Bilingual Edition.”
