The Signs of the Time — For the first time in the history of the world Mercury goes direct in Gemini and the Sun slides into Cancer on June 22. What is so dazzling and amazing about that is that the Sun is exalted in Cancer which also means you better watch your Ps and Qs as well as don’t leave a mess at Mama’s house when you and the little Indians visit her on the 4th of July.

Now for the higher math of this zodiacal time of 2021: Venus will be in Cancer for a week and then it moves on into Leo. Lordee, here come the red necks from Schitt’s Creek. Speaking earlier of the 4th of July, Mercury will be in the last stages of Gemini, and Venus and Mars will be in Leo. Watch how you dress. Don’t forget to tell Ms. Phew Van Samuels how fabulous she looks in the Parade. Unless you’re in New York City your dress-up with no parade will look more like cotton pickers next to the outhouse.

Jupiter went retrograde in Pisces on June 20 and will not go direct until October 18. Saturn continues retrograde in Aquarius until October 11. Neptune will go retrograde in Pisces on June 24. And lastly, but not least of the powerhouses, Pluto will remain retrograde in Capricorn until October 6. October is going to be the wild and wooly but also astrological game changer in 2021.

The best investment that I have ever made…

“I met Albert in late 1991 when my life was a mess and I did not know what to do. I went for an astrology reading reluctantly and at the end of it agreed to do the Sedona Intensive. I was in Sedona January 5-12 of 1992 and did my daily exercises and then continued with the program for 3 months upon returning home. By following Albert’s directions, even when some of it made no logical sense, my life was changed dramatically for the better over the next year. He put me on a path that I never could have imagined and I will be forever grateful for that. This eventually led to my current profession, beginning in 2005, as a life coach assisting clients in making big changes in their lives. The time and money spent with Albert all those years ago is the best investment that I have ever made and gave me insights and tools that I still use today.”

Monthly Insights for the Signs

Fire Signs

ARIES (March 19 – April 18)–With Mars your ruling planet in Leo for a while, you should be shuffling and jiving about all the good things coming your way. Since you were born a true blue gambler, keep playing your hunches as long as you can stay in the game.  There are major opportunities through July to make some profitable business acquisitions. Unearth your buried intuition to pick winner partners and stay away from the mooches.

LEO (July 22 – August 22)–Mars and Venus in Leo this Solar Cycle will be huge uplifts for you men and women of this Fire Sign. While under these aspects, go back to the drawing board and rethink and retool what you thought you wanted out of life. And don’t forget to turn your will and your life over to the loving care of your Higher Power. Whatever comes your way do the best you can and then wait for the report card to see your marks.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 20)–Since your ruling planet Jupiter is going to be in Pisces for a while it is time for you footloose and fancy-free Sags to develop some kinder, softer, and gentler qualities like your Fishy friends, Pisces. Stay home, don’t roam; give don’t receive. In early July you will make a last-minute trip that will affect you for the rest of your life. The most important things to do from home are pray, meditate and journal. Writing things down allows you to look back with peace and quiet when you put your thoughts on paper.

Earth Signs

TAURUS (April 19 – May 19)–July 13 when your ruling planet Venus goes into Cancer you can flip the switch and get ready to make some smart decisions regarding a special love affair. Also, as cautious are you are about money matters you will have three chances to grow your bottom financial line. A job change around the 7th of July is in the cards for you as well as a move from one residence to another. With Uranus still in Taurus, there will continue to be a lot of ups and downs in your life. Nonetheless, continue to exercise conscious choices this month.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)–With your ruling planet Mercury going direct in motion today get ready to clean up the messes you made while under the influence of your ruling planet. The results are in and you Virgos are being given a reprieve to rethink and rework what you have been assigned to get done. There is a new job looming so make sure you want to leave where you are for the unknown. The Stars say you will take a new opportunity. Good luck.

CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19)–What you have been building in the theatres of your mind will now become a reality in the known world. No one can stand still quite like Caps or make a big difference in the infrastructure like Pluto in Capricorn. When the rest of the Zodiac is zooming without a roadmap you men and women are alone in your room reviewing and reworking the greatest ideas to benefit us all. The Upper World says that something bigger than life will appear on the front page of your life around the 4th of July.

Air Signs

GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)–Today, June 22, Mercury went direct in Gemini. You must have been feeling the world was against you—at least that you were feeling that both Twins were in lock-up from opportunities. Give it a week and you will be flying high and wide with purpose. A wise ole owl once advised me, “Look back, but don’t stare.” I give those wise words to you Gemini. Move ahead with the motto, “My life is none of my business. It is God’s.”

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)–Your ruling planet Venus will go into Leo on the 28th of June which is a favorable place for your ruler to be. The upside of this transit is that you will make money not spend so much. Mars in Leo is another blessing for you Librans. All the smart pants who know more than I do about astrology always confess that Libra is the Sign for resolving all that’s wrong in us and the world at large. So whatever you work on this Solar Cycle do it with the integrity that is your birthright.

AQUARIUS (January 19 – February 17)–Mercury direct in Gemini until July 13 and Jupiter in Aquarius will benefit you Uranus-ruled Aquarians greatly. The fly in the ointment is Uranus in Taurus which will square you Water Bearers. The one thing about Aquarius is that you are in consideration for all of us not just your fraternity brothers and sisters. Since the world at large has been overlaid by the Corona-19 virus you have kept your eyes on the solution for all of us.

Water Signs

CANCER (June 21 – July 21)–Your need to control and be in charge everywhere you roam has to wait for a few weeks before Mercury goes into Cancer. Venus is in Cancer for a week. After that, you can get in the bread line like the rest of the Zodiac. You are getting loads of help from Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus but that devil Pluto in Capricorn still keeps you from embracing the bigger picture. The USA is Cancer—look at the tangled web we have woven for ourselves.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)-If you have been feeling that you are wearing someone else’s shoes and living a life that is unfamiliar with who you think you are, keep trudging and in touch with the voice inside you. You are at the end of a cycle that has not felt so like who you know you to be. People are going to be leaving your life and new ones knocking on your door. No one can connect with their inner world like you Scorpions. Most of all become truer to you and not to your close friends or irritating enemies. There is a great life about to appear.

PISCES (February 18 – March 18)–With Jupiter in Pisces retrograde and Neptune in Pisces as well, you will be a little late with all the work you have to do on your plate. Your dream state will be a dimension to get a lot of your great ideas. The third week of July there will be a surprise for you regarding money—like a trust or a living will. Whatever you do, never take your eyes off what you have returned to earth to get done. Om. Tat. Sat. Om.

How My Journey Began

“I have been receiving the Sedona Intensive Newsletter for many years. I was inspired by the astrological information. I never really delve into what programs were offered. I thought it was a spa in the painted desert where you could spend a week to relax and rejuvenate. I remember when I first subscribed to the newsletter, I had mentioned it to my husband and said maybe when we have some time, we could look into going there for a vacation. Little did I know what was in store for me on that Tuesday morning in December 2020 when I decided to dial the phone number listed on the newsletter to find out what the program was about and whether it would benefit me.

“Quite honestly, I was surprised when Mr. Albert Gaulden answered the phone! Surely this man has a receptionist, I thought to myself. But it was him. I, nervous – I almost hung up. Here I was talking to the man of Sedona! I was a bit intimidated at first, but after our first session, he truly put me at ease. I told him my recent story about the loss of my husband and the way I had soothed the pain of grief through alcohol. As we talked, I knew I needed to be part of this program. Albert is a straight forward, no bullshit kind of man. You either like what he has to say or you don’t. And if you don’t, he’ll tell you to go pound sand! But in a not so nice way. Albert is so passionate about the work he does and takes a true interest in each client. The homework is brutal but I have learned so much about myself and why I have experienced everything I’ve been through in my life and how it brought me to where I am today.

“One must have an open mind and be willing to hear the tough talk. There was tough talk. There was difficult self-reflection. But this program is not for sissies. You’re either going to commit – or you’re not. And if you don’t commit – this is not the program for you. It is an emotional experience with a great deal of self-reflection. This program didn’t just guide me through understanding my alcohol addiction, but it has been more beneficial in helping me deal with the overwhelming grief I have experienced over the last 2 years after the death of my husband. I am whole again.”

Featured Article: School Libraries Are the Bedrock of Freedom

By Joann and Kenneth C. Davis

See original article at Publisher’s Weekly here: https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/columns-and-blogs/soapbox/article/86281-school-libraries-are-the-bedrocks-of-freedom.html

Do you remember getting your first library card and borrowing your first book? For many of us, it was a rite of passage guided by a human search engine—a librarian.

In school, that librarian did more than shush the loudmouths, straighten the stacks, and stamp our books. The school librarian helped with homework, taught us kids how to “look it up,” and opened pathways to critical thinking. Librarians fulfilled the vision of 25-year-old Benjamin Franklin, who established the Library Company, America’s first lending library, in Philadelphia in 1731. Initially, a subscription library in which members paid a fee, the Library Company was “crowdsourced”—the first members pooled their own books to share with one another.

Franklin believed in keeping the membership fee low so that working people could afford to join. The idea caught on and spread through the colonies, making this cultural institution widely available. It became the forerunner of the public library, and when Philadelphia was the nation’s capital, the Library Company served as the Library of Congress.

Person of the Month: Dr. Edith Fiore

Dr. Edith Fiore received her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Miami. She moved to and practiced in California for more than thirty years, first with a general clinical practice and then from 1975 on as a hypnotherapist. She retired in 1997 and now lives in Florida. She is currently writing a novel on ancient Egypt. Dr. Fiore has lectured nationally and internationally and has trained more than two thousand professionals in her innovative techniques. She wrote three books on aspects of her work as a hypnotherapist.

I found Dr. Edith Fiore by reading two of her books, You Have Been Here Before and The Unquiet Dead. As a psychologist, she did past life regressions. In 1995 I had a problem with someone that she said was from the time I lived near the Sea of Galilee. This person with whom I had a problem was in a boat with me on the Sea and he came at me with a knife. I put my feet up and fell into the Sea and drowned. Through the regression, she uncovered that I felt so guilty for having been responsible for his death that she helped erase the “tape” that kept playing over and over in my head. The minute I got home from seeing her I walked into the post office in Sedona and ran into him. I hugged him and asked him to dinner that night. Until his death four years ago I had not a moment’s problem with him. As a matter of fact, as a practitioner, he worked as one of the Sedona Intensive support staff until he died. You will love Dr. Fiore’s books.

Featured Book: On the Brink of Everything: Grace, Gravity, and Getting Old

From beloved and bestselling author Parker J. Palmer (Let Your Life Speak, The Courage to Teach, Healing the Heart of Democracy), comes a beautiful book of reflections on what we can learn as we move closer to “the brink of everything.”

Drawing on eight decades of life — and his career as a writer, teacher, and activist — Palmer explores the questions age raises and the promises it holds. “Old,” he writes, “is just another word for nothing left to lose, a time to dive deep into life, not withdraw to the shallows.”

I Talked to the Cassandra of the Internet Age

New York Times opinion by Charlie Warzel

The internet rewired our brains. He predicted it would.

Michael Goldhaber is the internet prophet you’ve never heard of. Here’s a short list of things he saw coming: the complete dominance of the internet, increased shamelessness in politics, terrorists co-opting social media, the rise of reality television, personal websites, oversharing, personal essay, fandoms and online influencer culture — along with the near destruction of our ability to focus.

Most of this came to him in the mid-1980s, when Mr. Goldhaber, a former theoretical physicist, had a revelation. He was obsessed at the time with what he felt was an information glut — that there was simply more access to news, opinion and forms of entertainment than one could handle. His epiphany was this: One of the most finite resources in the world is human attention. To describe its scarcity, he latched onto what was then an obscure term, coined by a psychologist, Herbert A. Simon: “the attention economy.”

These days, the term is a catch-all for the internet and the broader landscape of information and entertainment. Advertising is part of the attention economy. So are journalism and politics and the streaming business and all the social media platforms. But for Mr. Goldhaber, the term was a bit less theoretical: Every single action we take — calling our grandparents, cleaning up the kitchen or, today, scrolling through our phones — is a transaction. We are taking what precious little attention we have and diverting it toward something. This is a zero-sum proposition, he realized. When you pay attention to one thing, you ignore something else…

Moments and Windstorms: Take Back Your Power

This ground-breaking book offers an in-depth journey through the author’s eye-opening addiction to alcohol and how he eventually got sober. Gaulden has written a number of books as well as being Founding Director of the Sedona Intensive, one of the country’s most highly regarded alternative personal growth programs.

The author shares all the ways God was leading and guiding him even when he was still drinking. “Most of us look at false paradigms to measure success in our lives. So much of where I went and the jobs I took helped me remember what I was to do as my life’s work.”

Gaulden’s book is divided into five parts. Each section explores different parts of his journey, incorporating all the places he’s been, the studies he’s made and the people he’s met. His point of view is that each client who sought his help made him a better person. At the end of the book, he has some daunting but hopeful words about the conditions of the planet Earth and what we need to do to survive as a race.

What Our Clients Are Saying About The Sedona Intensive

“The Sedona Intensive was a life changing experience for me. I had been searching for happiness and serenity for over 20 years and as a result of the Intensive I found that I was looking in all the wrong places. I not only experienced what happiness and serenity truly are but now understand the process needed to maintain and enhance that state of being. It doesn’t mean that I don’t experience the ups and downs of life but what it does mean is that those downs do not even come close to impacting me the way they used to. There is now a presence of mind that provides clarity and purpose that did not exist for me prior to the Intensive.

It is impossible to put a value on such a quality of life enhancing experience that the Sedona Intensive provides the person willing to do the work.It is by far the most significant thing I have done in my 62 years.

I came across a quote last week that summed up what I experienced and learned while attending the Sedona Intensive – ‘Once you stop clinging and let things be, you’ll be free’ -Bodhidharma (440ce – 528 ce), the Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma: A Bilingual Edition.”
