NEW BOOK by Albert Clayton Gaulden
Moments and Windstorms: Take Back Your Power

This ground-breaking book offers an in-depth journey through the author’s eye-opening addiction to alcohol and how he eventually got sober. Gaulden has written a number of books as well as being Founding Director of the Sedona Intensive, one of the country’s most highly regarded alternative personal growth programs.

The author shares all the ways God was leading and guiding him even when he was still drinking. “Most of us look at false paradigms to measure success in our lives. So much of where I went and the jobs I took helped me remember what I was to do as my life’s work.”

Gaulden’s book is divided into five parts. Each section explores different parts of his journey, incorporating all the places he’s been, the studies he’s made and the people he’s met. His point of view is that each client who sought his help made him a better person. At the end of the book, he has some daunting but hopeful words about the conditions of the planet Earth and what we need to do to survive as a race.

The Signs of the Time–Mercury went direct at 4 degrees of Aries on April 15. Give Mercury another couple of weeks to bring stability to important decisions you make regarding contracts. Jupiter continues retrograde in Scorpio for a few more months. Saturn went retrograde at 9 degrees of Capricorn on April 17 and won’t go direct in motion until September 6. Many consider that good news because direct motion of any planet, especially Saturn can cause confusion and emotional overload. And Pluto goes retrograde at 21 degrees of Capricorn on April 23. Here again this retrograde will bring some breathing room for all signs as Pluto tends to cause havoc in our lives.

There will be a Full Moon at 09 degrees of Scorpio on April 29. This will most affect Scorpios but will have an effect to a lesser degree on other fixed signs, Taurus, Leo and Aquarius.

There will be a New Moon at 24 degrees of Taurus on May 15. This will be a big boon for Bulls and will have a favorable blow-back to other Earth Signs, Virgo and Capricorn. Because Earth and Water signs are compatible, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will benefit to a lesser degree.

To many of us 2018 is a waiting-room 365 days. What this means is that you have the opportunity to change you and your attitudes as well as pay-off, not spend, as well as to make amends to those you have harmed.  There are still a lot of surprises ahead for all of us. To those who choose to get out of the Blame Game (Kabbalah) and change you to change the world you touch, your load will get lighter and life will be more joyful. There are no accidents. We all choose the life we are living, good, bad or indifferent.

Fire Signs

fireARIES (March 20 – April 18)–“Wow,” I hear the Rams exclaim, “what’s going on with us this Solar Cycle that’s causing all this internal disorder and stress?” You came to the right place for answers. First off, Mercury that went retrograde on March 23 at 16 degrees of Aries is direct motion since April 15 at 4 degrees of Aries. During the retrograde Aries had more ups and downs than an elevator in a busy building. This Solar Cycle, Mars is in Capricorn, as well as Saturn in Capricorn squaring Aries. These aspects undercut the usual high energy that the Ram innately has. The bright spot is Venus will be in Gemini, compatible with Aries from April 25 until May 20. We never suggest that any sign cover their head and play possum. Rather be warned and cautious during this cycle in all areas of your life.

LEO (July 22 – August 21)–Since the Sun is your ruling luminary it is smart for you to know what Solar Cycles are best for you. You are reading the right post to find out. Your other more advantageous times of the year besides Leo are other Fire Signs, Aries and Sagittarius and Air Signs, Gemini and Libra. Although your opposition Sign, Aquarius can teach you a lot, it is not considered one of your times of the year. After Mercury goes direct on April 15, you should be able to make some edgy financial decisions which will work for you. Also, Uranus still in Aries is an ally. Venus in Gemini from April 26 until May 19 can be helpful to you as well. Keep your narcissism in check. Humility will bode you better.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 20)–Your ruling planet, Jupiter, is retrograde in Scorpio until July 11. This is not the time to drink or eat your way into a world of one but a chance for you to develop your own ingrained intuition. Hopefully with the two and a half year run of Saturn in Sagittarius recently you have refined and attuned your consciousness to the higher octave you were born with. In case you haven’t noticed lately the world all around you is changing. What used to work is dying on the vine. As the Good Book says, “the love of money is the root of all evil.” Move away from the spell of greed and self motives and come into sync with who you were really born to be.

Earth Signs

earthTAURUS (April 19 – May 19)–There is no time of the year more fortuitous for you Bulls that April 19 through May 19. You’ll have your ruling planet, Venus, only a few days in Taurus, make good use of it. With Jupiter opposing you for a few more months be careful about over-eating, over-spending and interview carefully any affairs of the heart. I’ll say this for you: giving away your hard-earned dough is not one of your weaknesses. But body language and hood-winking are weak spots for you. Otherwise, enjoy your Solar Cycle.

VIRGO (August 22 – September 21)–A lot of the outer planets are in your corner this month, which are Mars and Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, a powerful Earth Sign in alignment with Virgo.  Although in retrograde, Jupiter in Scorpio also offers intuitive insights that can help Virgos. Mercury, your ruling planet, goes direct on May 15 but it will be in the incompatible Fire Sign of Aries for weeks. The Full Moon on April 29 at 09 degrees of Scorpio and the New Moon at 24 degrees of Taurus on May 15 will both benefit you. Your strong suit is neat and organized but your negative side can be messy and disorganized. This month there is so much going on with you, you may want to pick and choose carefully what you commit to.

CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19)–Let us count all the influences hanging around your sign this month: 1. Mars in Capricorn will allow you to get things done during this transit which ends May 16. This aspect is counter-intuitive to what would seem undo-able as Saturn rules Capricorn. Trust the interpretation: you are in an amazing time to accomplish a lot of what has seemed untenable heretofore. 2.  Saturn is retrograde in Capricorn giving Mars an opportunity to pick up pace and get a lot done in this Solar Cycle. 3.  Pluto in Capricorn always is tearing down and building back up with new tools and a new consciousness. Stick to the inner voice and you will amaze yourself before you are halfway through your to-do list.

Air Signs

airGEMINI (May 20 – June 20)–The best news is that Venus is in the sign of the Twins from April 25 until May 19. Then we come to the Gemini Solar Cycle when all planets are aligning to satisfy your hard work and patience. I get inquiries all the time that ask how can general transits relate to all people in a sign? Good question. Not all people in Gemini, for instance, are at the same level of soul growth. However, the Keepers of the Upper World do not discriminate. All born under a sign can take advantage of positive times and do homework to change the outcome of challenges. Gemini is on a roll. But put down the dice.  We never advise gambling anything with your life.

LIBRA (September 22 – October 22)–What is causing you fits this Solar Cycle is Mercury in retrograde but also in the Fire Sign of Aries, in opposition to you Solomons of the Zodiac. Not only will this transit last until May 15, but it will take another three weeks for Mercury to move out of Aries. You like peace and quiet and Aries runs on fire and fury. Libra wants to strike a deal that is good for all but Aries is interested in his will and his way. The solution to this dilemma is to go inside you where the true and loving God lives. For a few weeks stop watching network news and do not engage political conversations with either side of the aisle. We are suggesting you seek your own wise counsel rather than talking heads or bigots.

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 17)–Some Lunar Cycles you are going to feel left out. Actually you are the outlier of all the Signs of the Zodiac. When the world seems to go right you’ll go anywhere else but. And the lunations do not favor you this month. What may be causing a lot of topsy-turvy with you is that your ruler is still in Aries, which can be erratic and appear to be hot-headed. You may want to step aside and get your bearings this month because your iconic but off-the-wall nature may frighten even you. At times like these yoga classes and deep Zen meditations alleviate a lot of the stress and upset. Nothing is forever but this is a time to get quiet and stay out of the fray.

Water Signs

waterCANCER (June 21 – July 21)–You probably know by now that the Moon, which is your ruling luminary goes into a different sign every two and a half days. (If not, put it in your mental diary). So, to please you kind and loving but controlling Cancers we are going to give you the best days to make your move. April 20 and 21 (moon in Cancer); noon (PDT) April 24, 25 until 6 PM EDT on April 26; the Full Moon in Scorpio on April 29; May 9, 10; May 13, 14 and New Moon in Taurus on May 15; May 17, 18, Moon in Cancer. Your cautions are Mars and Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn opposing you. You are not known to be reckless, just doting and getting too involved with others’ problems. Tend to your town business.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)–So Jupiter, the blessed planet, is in retrograde in Scorpio. No time to fret or worry. The Universe and its Upper World minions are seeing if you will stick to your guns and do what you were born to do. The Full Moon at 09 degrees of Scorpio on April 29 merely signals the end of delays in so many of the plans you’ve been nurturing. The New Moon at 24 degrees of Taurus on May 15 gives you a read on how grounded you are with what you are trying to do. We’ve said it more than a dozen times: elevated and spiritually-seeking Scorpios are the Masters of the Zodiac. Once clear and conscious, a Scorpio always takes the high road to Integration and Manifestation. Those not will wallow in the mire of obsessive and compulsive behaviors.

PISCES (February 18 – March 19)–These lunations may bless you as only a Neptunian Pisces can handle. Always remember that the purpose of return to the Lower World is to make amends for past life mistakes and to continue to grow spiritually. Your stars portend a trip into the past to see what can be done to make a correction to something that happened a long time ago. Whatever you do, go inside yourself to consult with your Higher Power for guidance. The greatest challenge for a Pisces under any and all transits is to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Those of us Pisces who have had a problem with one or the other are so much happier and better off clean and sober.

View From a Chair by Marilyn Gard

If you were to find yourself confined to a wheelchair, how would you handle it? View From A Chair chronicles the author’s experience of being chair-bound from multiple sclerosis for the majority of her adult life. Starting with an illusion of invulnerability to the reality of total dependence on caregivers whoaren’tdependable, she describes the frustrations and challenges of disability with honesty and humor.

Her search for meaning led from Christianity to New Age to Native American. Her book is laced with references to the spiritual search that culminated in conversion to Judaism a few years ago. Because she is a lesbian who came out during the 1960’s and 70’s when women married in an attempt to conform to society’s values and were shamed by Christian leaders if they dared to love another woman, she shares her struggle to find peace with her sexual orientation while simultaneously dealing with increasing disability.

If you find yourself dependent on caregivers, you will appreciate the honest appraisal of caregiver experiences. “It is rare to read a personal account that at the same time breaks your heart and uplifts you. View from a Chair accomplishes that. The reader will never interact with a person in a wheelchair in the same way after reading this personal account.

Couples Who Went to the Extreme to Save Their Marriage
An interview with Carl and Joyce Gioia in RedBook Magazine

When Joyce Gioia couldn’t think of anything else to save her marriage and solve the trust issues that were tearing her and her husband, Carl, apart, she decided to make an investment into what she hoped could be a life-long, loving marriage. They packed their bags and headed to the Sedona Intensive: A $16,000 week-long intensive therapy session that helps people release all self-destructive behaviors.

The purpose of this particular therapy was to help them become stronger individuals, and the counseling was never couple-based. In fact, they only saw each other once per morning at 7 a.m. when they attended a 12-step meeting. The meetings addressed addictions—but it had nothing to do with substance abuse—it was focused on things like work addictions and co-dependence issues.

Between the supervised journaling, visits with renowned mental health professionals, and their genuine will to make things work, Carl and Joyce were able to recover their relationship.

“I believed that the nature and the intensity of this self-learning experience would help us move beyond the impasse that was preventing a resolution in our marriage,” Joyce said. And she was right. By looking at each other as total individuals, they were able to discover what was most important to their spouse and cater to those specific needs. Two years have passed and they’re more in love than ever.

Q & A

RedBook – Explain what the Sedona intensive is.

The Sedona Intensive is a rigorous, weeklong self-exploration. During the week, through concentrated journaling and visits with mental and physical health professionals, we each invested a lot of effort and energy in self-discovery. This self-learning experience is designed and managed by well-respected psychologist Albert Gaulden and includes daily meeting with Albert to monitor progress and ensure results.

RedBook – How did you find out about it?

My brother, who is a nationally acclaimed Emergency Department physician, had gone through this experience with his wife Amber and highly recommended it to us.

RedBook – What did you do at the Sedona intensive?

Every day, we began by attending a 12-Step Meeting with AA. Then, we had a rotating schedule of appointments with a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a yoga instructor, and/or an energy-balancing professional, and of course, Albert. In our “spare” time, we took independent hikes, though the spectacular Sedona canyons.

RedBook – What made you decide to go to this?

We decided to do it, because nothing else seemed to be working to resolve our trust issues. I believed that the nature and intensity of this self-learning experience would help us move beyond the impasse that was preventing resolution of our marriage.

RedBook – How did it change your relationship?

We both worked very hard to discover why we engaged in self-destructive behaviors that stood in the way of our sharing the loving relationship we both thought possible. Two years later, we are more in love than ever before.

RedBook – Would you recommend it to others?

Yes, absolutely, if the two people are prepared to approach the experience with open hearts and minds and they are truly interested in doing the work to strengthen the relationship.

Lindsay, as I said before, “I honestly do not know what else we might have done that would have been so effective in turning the relationship around”.

Joyce Gioia

What Our Clients Are Saying About The Sedona Intensive

“The Sedona Intensive was a life changing experience for me. I had been searching for happiness and serenity for over 20 years and as a result of the Intensive I found that I was looking in all the wrong places. I not only experienced what happiness and serenity truly are but now understand the process needed to maintain and enhance that state of being. It doesn’t mean that I don’t experience the ups and downs of life but what it does mean is that those downs do not even come close to impacting me the way they used to. There is now a presence of mind that provides clarity and purpose that did not exist for me prior to the Intensive.

It is impossible to put a value on such a quality of life enhancing experience that the Sedona Intensive provides the person willing to do the work.It is by far the most significant thing I have done in my 62 years.

I came across a quote last week that summed up what I experienced and learned while attending the Sedona Intensive – ‘Once you stop clinging and let things be, you’ll be free’ -Bodhidharma (440ce – 528 ce), the Zen Teaching of Bodhidharma: A Bilingual Edition.”
